Wanna track Santa along with the professionals?!
Topic: Linking
Our family doesn't have a problem with Santa (St. Nicholas)... he was a Christian after-all. We follow the tradition that my husband grew up with and open gifts on Christmas eve, and stockings on Christmas morning. Gifts are from family and friends, while items in stockings are left unwrapped and are from "Santa" --i.e. the giver shall remain nameless. Our children are 12 through almost 18 and none of them believe a round jolly guy with a flowing white beard squeezes through our make believe chimney to fill those stockings. They still enjoy our family traditions, though :-)
Besides, if NORAD things the big guy is worth keeping an eye on, don't ya think you should too?! LOL....

Some Recent Articles @ Other Websites

I have a few articles up at outside sites and wanted to share with you. Please feel free to leave your comments on the articles as you feel led!
What Is Feminine? Tee-shirts? http://feelinfeminine.com/?p=2967 is posted at Feelin' Feminine. FF is a website designed to inspire!, encourage!, and challenge! the way young girls think about their clothing choices and femininity. My article doesn't question the wearing of tee-shirts so much as it questions how we evaluate our choices in everyday life. If you've ever wondered where the everyday tee shirt came from, this article will answer some of your questions :-)
Asperger's Syndrome: Gumby and Wolverine http://heartofthematteronline.com/aspergers-syndrome-gumby-and-wolverine is posted at Heart of the Matter Online. HOTM is a homeschool website and magazine that seeks to encourage and share information across the web with homeschooling families. My most recent article at HOTM shares a bit about our oldest son, Caleb, and some of the reactions he has had, and others have had toward him, while living daily with Asperger Syndrome.
I pray you find encouragement in my words at both articles. I truly enjoyed writing them and wish greatly for God to be glorified in all I say and do.

Linking to some great posts...
Topic: Linking
I don't go to a ton of blogs but have over 60 saved in my google reader. I like reading blogs this way because all my favorites are saved in one spot and I can visit which ever ones are updated throughout the day without having to look them all up individually. I used to love linking to favorites but I haven't been linking recently as often as I'd like. I always think "that's a great post" but get sidetracked with something and don't remember later. I thought I'd grab 10 favorite posts from my google reader from recent weeks and link up to them to share with you. I hope you'll take the time to go look them up and maybe find some new blogging favorites :-)
Kelli shows pictures of her shelves with teacups and seashells. I love the look!
Dawn at The Feathered Nest is très créateur. She always has freebies of printables that you can you download and use on your own stuff. These french papers were some of my favorites recently.
Lori gives a great devotion that you wouldn't believe using a mac n' cheese analogy! She even gives you her recipe :-)
I laughed so hard reading Amy's Boys Are Just Gross post. Even in VBS, boys will find a way to make er, uhm, boy noises and make their mommies turn a shade or two of pink. If you've got lots of boys you've probably "been there, done that"!
The Nester ALWAYS has good decorating tips and she finds the best steals on stuff!! I'm jealous I think ;-) She has a great post with pics showing how she hid her ugly thermostat. Now, why didn't I ever think of something like that?! Her recent posts are almost all about decorating a rental they just moved it. This girl has style!
From the SBC NC feed, Alan Knox asks What Kind of Fruit? and does a bit of a remix on a section of Matthew 25. I liked what he had to say!!
SelahV has become one of my favorite people to read for devotions! This lady is a thinker and she has a humble heart that always, at least to me it seems, wants to be sharing what God leads her to say. This post on motherhood really touched me! Two other posts about Biblical womanhood this week on the SBC Women feed touched me as well. They were: A Woman's Highest Calling...Is the complementarian view accurate? and The Titus 2 Need.
Hadias has a great post about remembering to let go of the controls and stop being a control freak (my emphasis) when your hubby is at home.
Ok, I have an extra 11th link, too, because, you know, like good birthday swats there has to be one to grow on :-) Nikki wrote about attitude for a Train Up A Child post a few weeks ago. I love it!
I hope you take the time to go visit these folks posts and get to know them through their blogs! Have a blessed day and may you do all you do for the glory of God!!

I am 6:49 a.m.

You're 6:49 a.m.
You're the time of day right around sunrise, when the sky is still a pale bluish gray. The streets are empty, and the grass and leaves are a little bit sparkly with dew. You are the sound of a few chirpy birds outside the window. You are quiet, peaceful, and contemplative. If you move slowly, it's not because you're lazy. It's because you know there's no reason to rush. You move like a relaxed cat, pausing for deep stretches that make your muscles feel alive. You are long sips of tea or coffee (out of a mug that's held with both hands) that slowly warm your insides just as the sun is brightening the sky.
It was a fun quiz; one I hadn't seen before but it showed up in my feed for Michelle over at Between Diapers and Dishes. Click on the graphic to go find out what time you are!

Purses for Hope House
Topic: Linking

Erica is the President of our homeschool group. She and her husband, Joe, are missionaries in Mexico and will be opening a home for women in San Luis named Hope House. Their goal is for the ladies of the house to be able to be self-sufficiant through sewing and crafts that they can sell. These candy wrapper purses are just one of the items they hope to sell. They have been able to get with a manufacturer in the states to buy sheets of new wrappers and are also working on being able to buy sheets of Mexican candy labels as well. Click here to see more examples of these cute purses at Erica's page.
