Let's practice our French...
Topic: Cleaning
Ok, I woke up early this morning... let's have some fun and practice our French in regards to my procrastination and having piles of stuff to go through by TODAY....
Vous: Avez-vous fini? ...translation ----> You: Have you finished?
Moi: J'ai travaillé. Il y a trop à faire. Je suis fini, pour maintenant! J'ai sommeil... je prends un café! ...translation ----> Me: I have worked. There's too much to do. I am finished, for now! I'm tired... I'll have a coffee!
Hope you liked the french lesson :-)
Have a great day! Like I said, I am going to have a coffee... or two... or three (but for that many I'll need to make some a decaf and just enjoy the smell of it!

Spring Cleaning
Topic: Cleaning
I am working on spring cleaning and going through our house as we get ready to make the final push towards moving to North Carolina. This morning I took all our german lace and sheer curtains down and have them soaking in a vinegar wash. I am also washing bed linens this morning. I've been bound and determined not to buy anything less than 600 thread count for over a year now but last week had to run out and buy a set for an air mattress. Our base exchange only had 250 count and the fitted sheet is pilling. I hate that! I feel like they are ruined already and they were only on the mattress for a few days.
This afternoon I plan to wash all the battenburg lace tea stained curtains in my dining/family room. I don't want to lose the coloring I added to them but I can always stain them again so really its not a big deal. I think I will probably just leave the curtains down now. I hate having my house look like its not a home but I don't want to be rushed the day before the packers come with washing and folding linens either. We are in transition. I keep repeating that mantra and just visit my favorite home decorating blogs to get my fix of pretty places!
Of course, the typical thing you run into when you clean one area, is that everything else looks even more dirty. With the curtains down, even as light and airy as they were, the light is really shining on my floors in the family room/dining/kitchen area. When I buy my own home ~ and no longer have to live in base housing or deal with a rental ~ I promise myself never to have a white linoleum floor with all sorts of little faux stone crevices. The dirt just sticks in those tiny places and your white isn't white anymore! I love hardwood.. even in the kitchen.. and that is what I am praying for! Ceramic tile will be the other option I can live with!! Maybe a beautiful Arizona style terra cotta colored tile with a few accent pieces for spice! Hmmm, we'll see.. Oh, and the windows. It's hard not to miss the way they look now. Dusty.. finger prints.. sand! Yes, they need a good washing, too. Time to buy more vinegar!
