Last night for some reason I started reflecting on all the times in Junior Hight that the only thing I wanted to be for the rest of my life was popular. Pretty shallow, huh? Well, I think it is now, but to an eleven to fourteen year old that was all that mattered.
I remember shopping for school clothes beginning of 8th grade and all I could think of was what clothes could I buy at Ross and still look chic and popular. Freshman year of highschool was the same way, only now I was "allowed" to wear make-up!!! O, happy day... right?!
We label everyone and everything around us. We are stuck with a vain pride, conforming to what's "in" and not taking the time to realize our own uniqueness radiating from our inner beauty. Instead, we lose ourselves in the world through a hopeless fight to reign supreme in our ultimate uber coolness.
After freshman year I left the world of conformists under the power of Queen Popularity at the climax of her reign! I choose to be a non-conformist, a queen in my own beauty au naturale and definitely ABOVE the influence!
Not-of-this-world!
